Second Trimester

Congrats on making it to your second trimester. I hope your journey so far has been pleasant and not too overwhelming. If not, you should be getting a break in your second trimester known as the “Honeymoon phase”. So lets jump right into 8 things to do in your second trimester.

1.Maternity clothes

By now you’ve notice that your jeans have gotten a little harder to close and your bra’s aren’t fitting as great as they used to but that’s normal. This just means you get to shop and what girl doesn’t like shopping. Buy a few maternity clothes so that you may feel much more comfortable. A few places to check out are Target, Old Navy and Macys. Just don’t over buy because you wont be pregnant forever.

2. Heartburn

A lot of women gets heartburn while others are lucky to not have it. Having heartburn can be pretty uncomfortable. You can help prevent it by avoiding spicy foods, caffeine, and having your meals two hours before bed time. Also you can always ask your ob/midwife on ways to help prevent heartburn.

3. Skin Changes

This was one of my least favorites. By now if not soon, you’ll start to see little lines around your breast, butt, hips and stomach. That’s just your stretch marks coming in. To help prevent getting stretch marks try not to scratch no matter how much your skin might be itching. Use products like coco butter, bio-oil and other skin care products on the market and apply to your skin daily. Other skin challenges might be Acne, and the size of your nose looking a little bigger, but don’t worry your nose will get back to normal after birth.

4. Birthing class

I’ve never attended one, but while working in a ob/gyn clinic for three years I’ve seen people attend and it seem pretty interesting/helpful. If you have the money you can look into attending these classes. You can always use the help to prepare you for your journey ahead.

5. Take pictures

Look, we take pictures all the time for the fun of it so why not take some for each step of your pregnancy. Those pictures will be by far the best memories just watching your tummy grow, Plus a few years down the line you’ll be able to share those picture with your little bundle of joy.

6. Baby Registry

Creating a baby registry can be fun yet stressful at the same time. First thing you need to do is figure out where you’d like to create your registry. I had both Amazon and  Target  registry, Two pretty good places to shop for a baby. Then you’ll need to figure out things your baby will need once he/she has arrived.

7. Baby Shower

Yes its that time already. You have to start planning your baby shower once your in your second trimester because you need to know how much money you’ll need. Start by picking the Date, Location and your guest list. I was all over the place, I couldn’t figure out if I wanted to have a baby shower or if I wanted to  use the money and buy all the things I needed for my baby. But I also wanted to have the memories, photos and the people that meant the most to us welcoming our baby. So start trying to figure out what is it that you want to do.

8. Pregnancy Pillow

Get it, Get it. Its so helpful omg. It has helped me to sleep better at nights and helped me to feel comfortable laying down and watching tv. I have no idea how I went through my first pregnancy without it but I’m happy I got it on my second go around.
