Self love – “Having a high regard for your own wellbeing and happiness”.

So how many people take the time out to practice self love? Not a lot I’m sure. But we all expects to be loved by others. But why ask that of someone else. If we’re unable to show ourself some love. Well, here’s four ways that I believe will help you practice self love and self appreciation.

Positive Affirmations

Imagine waking up everyday with your mind filled with nothing but negative thought and emotions. Have you ever thought of how that might impact your day? Let’s start our mornings by saying things like I’m great, I’m worth it and I can do anything I put my mind to. So that you’re already instilling yourself with the idea that you’re going to have a better day than yesterday. Instead of the usual “Negative Affirmation” we’re use to. We replace them with something more positive. I Find that a positive quote, book or podcast in the morning helps as well.

Believing in yourself

Again we always want to try and be positive. Things like I am enough, I am strong, and I belong here. Are phrases you can say to yourself anytime of the day to remind yourself you are more than enough. Do you know how many people get put down on a daily basis with words like “you don’t belong here” or “you’re not enough”. So each day, the same way you would try and cheer someone else up. You should do that with yourself as well. You give your best when you’re at your best.

Treat yourself

Sometimes we plan things for ourselves that don’t come to fruition like a spa day or getting our hair done. Then the next thing you know, after paying  bills you have nothing left over to treat yourself. So instead of always putting it off until the next payday, It’s acceptable to treat yourself at home. Get some candles out, get your speaker and take a nice relaxing bath. Or put your feet up and watch a movie with a glass of wine. Just something that you enjoy. And when you do have the money, then by all means go to that fancy spa and treat yourself. Because you deserve it.

Skincare

Most people start by loving their self from the outside in. Which is a little crazy if you ask me, But does it happen. Having a healthy skin routine is as important as anything else. Apart of you loving yourself is loving your skin, normally this takes a lot of time which is one of the main reasons most people don’t do it. You come home from work with a list of things be done. By time you get to skin care you’re probably already exhausted from the day you had. Or you’ve just gotten  a little lazy. Either way, always try to remember that it’s important and it makes a difference.

 

Just remember that how you love yourself is how you teach others to love you.
